Robert Snodgrass: A Streetwise Education

Hold onto your hats, listeners… here comes Snoddy! We recorded this on the 32nd floor of a skyscraper in Canary Wharf on February 14, 2020… and yes, love was in the air.

I love the way Snoddy plays football for West Ham. And I love his infectious personality.

In this first part, he talks us through growing up in the Gallowgate, the support of a tight-knit family, how Leeds United made him a man and why Scotland should have stuck with Gordon Strachan.

Sit back, relax, enjoy some Snoddy time!

Gus Poyet: The Road to Old Wembley

Hola!
In the second half of my fascinating chat with Gus Poyet, we discuss his days playing in London for Chelsea and Spurs, and his love for the old Wembley Stadium. Gus also speaks about his transition into management, notably leading Sunderland to a League Cup final and missing out on signing defensive genius Virgil van Dijk.
I am certain you will enjoy this, one of the greatest Big Interviews we have done so far.

The Big Interview with Darren Fletcher

Hola Big Interview listeners! You have been telling us about their favourite Big Interviews from our archive. Here’s another classic from Season One with the wonderful Darren Fletcher.

The thing I reckon people get way wrong about Darren is that because he’s a kind, mannerly, articulate sort that, perhaps, he’s ‘just’ a nice guy. He’s both mentally and physically tough, he’s brutally determined to win and I’d bet you a million dollars that it was as unpleasant as hell to play against him.

Top footballer, top man, great guest on the Big Interview. Watch this space – one day you’ll see Darren Fletcher managing Manchester United to the Premier League title.

Roberto Di Matteo Part II: How to win the Champions League, and other stories

Hola Big Interview listeners!

You have been telling us about your favourite Big Interviews from our archive. Here’s another classic, part two of my chat with Roberto Di Matteo from 12 months ago.

Robbie came ready to talk and he brought insight, analysis, great stories and plenty of laughs.

The final section is given over to his coaching career, not least leading Chelsea to Champions League glory against Bayern Munich in 2012. I guarantee you’ll enjoy listening to this as much as I did recording it.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Roberto Di Matteo Part I: How to win the Champions League, and other stories

Hola Big Interview listeners!

You have been telling us about their favourite Big Interviews from our archive. Here’s another classic.

Twelve months ago I spent an entertaining couple of hours with Roberto Di Matteo . Robbie came ready to talk and he brought insight, analysis, great stories and plenty of laughs.

You’ll hear him reflect on the glory era of Serie A, where he was part of a swashbuckling Lazio side who scored goals for fun and should have won the trophies to back up their talent.

Robbie is brilliant on his time at Chelsea under Ruud Gullit. At Stamford Bridge, he added goals to his game and medals to his collection. There were famous goals – not least in the FA Cup final against Middelsbrough – and sexy football under the charismatic Gullit.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
