Camp Nou competition: Your final chance

It’s the final week of our Camp Nou competition. Enter the Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge at FanDuel, using our promo code, and you could be on the way to Barcelona, with a pal, to watch Barca play Malaga on November 19.

The bar is high. Last weekend there was some huge scoring, and FanDuel player and podcast listener BaconPolse leapt into pole position with a massive 344.

How did he do it? Well, he had Phillipe Coutinho and Sergio Aguero in his team, but then again more than half of all players in the Podcast Challenge did, too.

The single most important pick old Bacon made was İlkay Gündoğan – only 10% of our players went for the German and he was the top scoring player last Saturday with a whopping 64.25 points. That’s behind two goals, one assist and a pass-tackle-intercept game that racked up points like a pinball machine.

You can still beat Mr Bacon to this great prize – flights, hotel and match tickets for you and a friend to Barca v Malaga – by following these steps:

•       Sign up at fanduel using promo code BIGINTERVIEW. If you have already signed up using this or any of our promo codes, you can ignore this part. But only players based in the UK and who use one of our codes are eligible to win.

•       Play in the Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge on Saturday. The usual cash prizes are up for grabs every week, as well as this special prize.

•       Even if you missed weeks one and two, a winning score on Saturday could be enough to win this prize. If the winner has a score above BaconPolse’s 340 points, that listener is flying to Barcelona. Win with a lower score, and you’ll have to make do with the usual cash prize and a lot of kudos.

FanDuel sponsor us, and keep the podcast free for you. Why not play with them – it might take you all the way to Barcelona. Vamos.

Camp Nou competition – week two. Your target is set.

After week one of our FanDuel Camp Nou competition, the leading score is 296.75. That was achieved by player and podcast listener DonnellyC on FanDuel, but remember – it’s a brand new game every matchday. Win this week (October 29th) or in our final gameday, on November 5th, and if your score is the highest of our three winners, you’re going to Barcelona, baby.

The prize is awesome. Flights, hotel and matchday tickets for you and a friend to watch Barcelona v Malaga on November 19. I’ll be your host at Camp Nou. All thanks to FanDuel.

How to win? Well, last week’s winner combined very popular high-scoring players like Dimitri Payet, with value picks like Ryan Shawcross – only 6.4% of players in the Podcast Challenge had the Stoke defender in their line-up last Saturday, but he weighed in with 25.75 points.

Here’s how you can join in and win this amazing prize.

  • The podcast listener with the highest single matchday score across the next three matchdays wins this very special prize. If you don’t do well in week one, or you don’t play until week three, you can still win the prize.

With FanDuel it’s a brand new game every matchday, so you don’t have to play every week to win this prize. The single highest score will do it.

The Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge: Week Seven

So, I know there’s been an international week in between this and the last contest, but I can’t miss the chance to reflect back – and gloat – on week 6 of the Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge. Yes, I finished in the money again, placing 7th out of 94. I’m getting the hang of this.

Last time – when I finished 7th, did I mention that! – Dmitri Payet was my second highest point scorer. I’ve watched his goal against Middlesbrough so many times since then.  He has to be in again. I’ve been excited by Victor Wanyama’s recent form and I think he’ll be a good points scorer for me on Saturday.

I fancy Alexis Sanchez to do some damage against Swansea. Bournemouth’s Joshua King has been a consistent points scorer in FanDuel this season, and Jermaine Defoe can always be relied upon for a goal. Yes, I’m feeling confident again.

If you want to join in, it’s really simple. Log in at fanduel.co.uk/graham. This weekend, for the first 150 of you that sign up to @FanDuelUK with code GRAHAMFIVER you’ll get £5 free credit, no deposit required. New customers only

Have fun. See you on the app!

The Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge: Week Six

My FanDuel career has had an – ahem – slowburning start, but last week I finished in the money in the Graham Hunter Podcast Challenge. I am the sum total of £2 richer, which may not buy me a yacht in Barcelona harbour but does give me the bragging rights over the BackPage boys.

Roberto Firmino was the top-scoring FanDuel player thanks to a couple of goals for Liverpool in their 4-1 caning of Leicester in last Saturday’s evening kick-off. I had the Brazilian in my team. I also backed fellow Scot Robert Snodgrass to have a big weekend and his performance, ending with an injury-time goal in Hull’s 1-1 draw with Burnley earned me 41.75 points. Cheers, Snoddy. Michail Antonio’s brace fore West Ham – in their 4-2 defeat by Watford – also boosted my tally.

And so, to this week. After hours in a darkened room – my £2 winnings didn’t cover the electricity bill – here’s my team for this week. Riyad Mahrez is a confidence player and Claudio Rainieri claimed the Champions League theme tune “woke him up” this week. His two goals in Leicester’s 3-0 midweek win over Club Brugge will have given him a huge boost and I expect him to do some damage to Burnley.

Laurent Koscielny has had a strong start to the season at Arsenal, and he is the lynchpin of my defence this weekend. I’m backing Romelu Lukaku to follow his hat-trick against Sunderland with a goal or two against Middlesbrough in the late kick-off.

The entry fee for this week’s league is £5. That means the prize pot is bigger, and in forthcoming weeks we’ll be offering special prizes connected to the podcast, one of which may well take you all the way to the Camp Nou.

If you want to join in, it’s really simple. Log in at fanduel.co.uk/graham and please make sure you use promo code BIGINTERVIEW. That means if you don’t finish in the prizes, you get your entry fee refunded. If you’ve signed up already but not used this promo code, you can still put it into play to get a free shot at the podcast challenge.

Have fun. See you on the app!

Graham.
